Tourists visiting Denia can actively contribute to minimize their impacts and care for the natural and urban environment. Here are some simple and effective practices to be a responsible and sustainable tourist:

  • Choose responsibly: Prioritize accommodations, restaurants and activities that demonstrate environmental commitment. Look for quality, environmental and sustainability certificates. If you have any doubts, ask at our Tourist Offices.
  • Avoid littering: Keep the environment clean and avoid throwing any kind of waste, whether in urban areas, natural areas or beaches.
  • Beware of cigarette butts: Never throw cigarette butts on the ground, especially in our natural areas or on the beaches. In natural areas, they can cause fires, and on the beach, it is difficult to remove them, which leads to them ending up in the sea.
  • Separate and recycle: If you are in a hotel, use the spaces provided for waste separation. In apartments, rural houses or campsites, make the selective separation as you would do at home. Throughout the municipality you have containers to deposit your waste correctly and not end up on the ground. We also have fixed and mobile Ecoparque, as well as mini clean points. • Choose reusable bags: For your shopping, opt for reusable bags and avoid plastic ones.
  • Take reusable containers on your excursions: Avoid using plastic, aluminum foil and disposable cutlery; use reusable containers and cutlery instead.
  • Leave any place “the same or better”: Help to keep Dénia clean and environmentally friendly.
  • Support local commerce: When buying products or services, prioritize local businesses, which offer unique products and help strengthen Dénia’s economy. Opt for food, handicrafts and products from our region.
  • Respect the people of Dénia: Try to understand and respect local customs and act with courtesy in public places. Respect the rest of the neighbors and be aware that loud sounds may affect those who live in the area.
  • Respect the cultural heritage: To respect the cultural heritage is to honor the history and traditions that have shaped the identity of our community. Every corner, monument and custom represents the cultural richness of Denia; preserving it is your responsibility as a visitor.
  • Enjoy the traditions: By appreciating the art, architecture and traditions of Dénia, you contribute to protect the cultural diversity that enriches the world.
  • Value our language: Learning some words and expressions in our local language, Valencian, demonstrates respect for our culture and facilitates a more authentic connection with the people. Striving to understand and speak our language not only enriches the experience as a tourist, but also shows appreciation for Denia’s cultural identity.

Through these practices, environmental sustainability is promoted, as well as respect for the community and support for the local economy of Dénia, contributing to a more positive and responsible tourism experience.
